Even when I’m typing my post on a handheld UNIX machine (an internet communicator) I must say: Yes, Linux is a powerful operating system and came in the right time. A time where only Minix (remember the battle between Torvald and Tanenbaum (I remember my Moderne Betriebssystem from him) in those days) where available on PC.
I never got Linux (with X.11) running on my computer. Later I began running a real UNIX, so I had no further need for Linux. But anyway, Linux did a lot for the developing of operating systems and the Open Source community. Even that Linux is not UNIX Linus did a real great job.
